Scrambler 4wd after switched off
#1
I have mentioned this in another newsgroup but thought I would mention it here, too. About half the time when I disengage my 4wd on my '99 Scrambler, one front tire seems to still pull. On mine, it is the left tire that pulls. I can back up about 5 feet or so and it goes away.
I have been told that it is bad hub oil or worn out hub oil and to change it to Mobil 1 synthetic ATF and the problem will go away. I probably only have 20 hours on the oil in the hubs at most. Has anyone else experienced this and found a fix for it?
Thanks,
SnowDrift

When my xplorer was new this used to happen to me every time I used 4x4. I kept changing the hub oil and it didn't change. After I had the machine about 3 years, it got alot better. Now it happens once in awhile, but not very often. So maybe it gets better as the system breaks in.

you might check to make sure your hubs seals arent leaking
because if all your oil leaks out they wont disengage properly
also your garter spring maybe stretched and its not pullin the rollers back out to where your hub disengages

I've had this problem with 4x4 pickups and SUV's. The auto hubs don't always disengauge. Sometimes you just gotta nail the gas in reverse for about 10 feet then hit the brakes hard. This usualy takes care of the problem.
