Need Help to find a New Battery: ATC 250ES
#1
I am trying to find a new battery for my 250ES with out going to Honda and paying $75.00. Any alternative sources for purchase will help and if you could provide the model number if it is from NAPA etc. Thanks.
Also looking for a good manual for the 250ES.
Appreciate any help.

The battery number is YTX12-BS. The number will vary from one manufacturer to the other, so just make sure you have "X12-BS" somewhere in there.
One other thing to keep in mind that a battery is not a battery when dealing with the maintenance free type batterys in the Hondas. You get a better deal money wise with the cheaper one's, but don't tend to last as long as the Yuasa that all the OEMs use.
Clymer makes a manual for the Big Red 250 that is near identical the Honda manual for about $20-$25 [depending on where you buy it]

KNOWSALOT, Thank you for your help on both issues as well as the charging of the battery while in the bike. I am assuming Yuasa is a manufactor of batterys. Can you by these from an auto parts store or from a mail order? I would rather spend a little more and not have to change batterys too often.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Yuasa is the brand battery that is used by nearly every manufacturer including Honda. Some mail order houses carry them. You just have to look fir them. I'm not sure you would find them in an auto parts store because they only make batterys for the powersports indusstry and not automobiles.
The auto. stores usually only deal with one or two companys when it comes to stocking batterys, so they usually have to sell the smaller batterys in the same brand as the automobile batterys so as not to have a conflict of interest with their best selling company. Which is obviously the one that sells them the car batterys.
If you do some hunting, you should find the Yuasa battery at a Honda dealer for around $60. Almost all dealers have different mark ups on parts, so just do some digging.

I replaced my factory yuasa battery with a non sealed standard mototcycle battery I got at the local auto parts store. The replacment was just a little taller. The only problem is if you stand your trike on end for transport the battery juice leaks. It also leaks if you roll. My replacment cost about 20 dollars.
