My cousin has an 250r with the basic mods, he is now looking into building the engine up. He was wondering who has a good kit for this engine that is still reliable. Also, is going to a powervalve unit worth the price. Thanks for any info

well i hear that the 265 engine kit is pretty good. i hear most of the national bikes run the 265 and 290

 

If you plan to race it in 250 class, the biggest you can have is a 265cc motor, if you want to run open, or not race, then you can go as big as like 400cc+
I personally have an LRD 256 w/out powervalve and it rips. My friend has an LRD 300, and its fast as well, actually both are about the same powerwise. They say that the powervalve's are great, and I guess that Jones won the Championship on one, so thats proof if ever there was proof. But for every day riding, I think they are a little mcuh money!
