Has anyone ever used Amsoil 4-stroke oil in their quads or dirtbikes? Did it seem too offer good protection? I know they manufacture some of the best two stroke oil out there, but i've heard nothing about their 4 stroke oil. I might purchase a mint condition xr500 on sunday and if i do buy it, i want to use the best oil possible.

Thanks for your time.

If you mean Amsoil, then yes its great! I had a 83'XR500R for a few years, just make sure 3rd gear shifts well as they are prone to going out....other than that its a great bike.

I run Amsoil in everything now. I run the new Amsoil Formula 4-Stroke 0w-40 oil in all of my bikes. I am very satisfied with Amsoil, and havn't had any problems.

The only exception where I don't use Amsoil is 2-stroke oil. I run Motul 2-stroke oil.

I use it and yes it is wonderful. If every one would braek down and use it, you would see a heavy amsoil following.

Sorta off subject.....I tried some Amsoil 2-stroke oil.(series 2000)I was not impressed with it.They recomend 50-1.It smoked so much I had a forest ranger stop me and ask me what was wrong with my bike and it was down on power.I mixed up another batch at 64-1(2 oz per gallon).Still smoked terribly.I usually run Torco gp-7.It is smokeless and the bike runs much better than the Amsoil.I have been riding the bike for 7 years now and never even had the head off yet.

Anyway...torco makes a 4-stroke oil I have been using in my 4-stroke bikes and im real happy with it.But it is not synthetic.

I am not affiliated with Torco,I just like there products.

You should see the followin they have in Duluth and Superior. It seems like every other car and truck has a amsoil sticker on it.
