Elka or Works
#1
I am interested in a triple rate shock , for mostly hard trail riding with some mxing. I have heard that i don't need a 3 rate shock , but ride a quad with them and you will want them. So if you have works or elkas let me know why i should buy them.

that is not even a question get the elka's they are far better i have them and they rock but if you have them set up for trail riding then thats what they will work at if u want mx or are a person who does a lot of trail riding and like to catch some major air then get them set up for mx you kinda have to sacrifice if you want them to be able to handle morw air ten 7 or 8 feet have them set for mx and you will have to live with them being a little stiff on the trail i love my elkas they are very good over stutter bumps and good at jumps i say good because i have them set for trail riding but i would recomend the piggy back shocks its easy to mount them and they loook cool hope i helped by they way if you get the shocks go to these guys c&d racing they are one of the best prices ive seen

I also just purchased some ELKA's from C&D Racing. These shocks are the best by far in my opinion. For your situation I would recomend going with a compression adjustable shock. So that way when you are trail riding you can turn down the compression for a softer ride and when you are jumping or MX riding crank the compression up. Have the best for trails and MX.

I've got Works triple on my 400EX. They DO NOT bottom out, ever. But man the ride is harsh. I believe Works makes a comp adjust shock, not sure how much that costs though.
I've got Elka's on my Banshee. The Elka's come with a compression adjust, so you can do like the other guys said and adjust them as you ride. They are awesome shocks, but I have bottomed them out before.

You are comparing a Cadillac to a Pinto. There is no doubt Elka is the way to go. The only deciding factor should be cost. I have the Elkas and love them. I don't regret spending the 900 on them at all. My wife didn't have the same oppinion, but oh well the couch was comfortable.

Works makes a fine shock. But you should compare Elka to PEP or something of equal quality. I sell all 3 and have had no complaints, but no one has ever offered to trade in their Elka or PEP shocks for some works.
