Slightly useless info for you but Wes Miller, Tavis Kain and Keith Little are coming to South Africa to do some riding. The attraction....The biggest dunes in the world. We are all going to Namibia in South West Africa to let rip on them dunes. Watch out for Heuvos Grandes 5 for the footage.

Hi,

I've been to Little Sahara in Wanoka, Oklahoma, that's not real far from you, lots of sand, steep dunes, and a kind of motocross track along the back edge. Make sure you use a spotter on the big hills, it's not direction regulated like Silver Lake in Michigan,so you might meet someone coming the other way !!! Other than that, you should have a lot of fun, just be safe.

I agree with 95 wolv from MN. Work your way West. Start with Little Sahara in Waynoka, OK. It is the closest for you. The dunes get bigger and more challenging the further West that you go. LS in Waynoka are "fun" dunes. Nothing to big, but fun to ride. The trail system is great. If you get lost just follow the boundry fence on the trail and it will loop you back to your camping area. Then if you want IMHO the most challenging of all the dunes go to St. Anthony, ID.

Little Sahara state park is in Waynoka OK. Nice dunes but not huge. Sand is powdered gypsum can be very soft & fluffy so paddles are recomended but not required. Major weekends 10,000+ people & all kinds of quads from stock to full custom. On site camping or houses for rent in town.Parts, accessories, race fuel & mechanic avalible on site. Can get quite hot in summer but that makes for great night riding. Waynoka OK 5 min from camp ground it's a small town but caters to duners.check waynokas web site, www.waynoka.com/littlesahara.htm come on up & play. While your there check out the sand drags at Atoka OK. Buggies, 4x4s, dragsters & quads. Races 2nd saturday of the month from March to November. On a regular race 75 to 100 quads in 3 classes. Memorial day weekend is the ASDA Heartland nationals. At least double the quad count from normal, All races are run on indexes so even if you've never drag raced before if your quad is consisant & you can cut a good light you can win. Winners can go away with over $1000.Check out the American sand drag Association at WWW.sanddrags.com to see pictures from last years race

The Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area which is often referred to as Glamis (et al) is awesome. I go about twice a month and it is always a good experince. However, I doubt I would drive from Mississippi to go duning there. Imagine if your bike breaks or the wether is bad, wow talk about being in a bad mood. I live about 2 hours away and I get mad when a trip goes south. Wait until you have some business out west and can enjoy it here along with a backup plan.

As far as going to Nambia to ride dunes... Do they require a green sticker? How about a whip? Will American Airlines take my Raptor as normal baggage?

Good riding.
Jeff

Hey I am about three hours south of you, every once in a while I'll go to Alexandria,La. No real jumps but lots of fun and only about five hours from here. Its worth the trip if you love sand. Lots of drag racing, dunes are lit up a night, plenty of camping if thats your thing. No real rules except that you have a flag.
I have been thinking of going out west to ride but I can only get one other person to half way commit. How far is Little Sahara any way?
Kinda off subject but there is a small indoor race in Bay Springs this weekend if any one is interested. Its the second year for it. Lots of fun last year, just a little cramped.

Waynoka, OK is "about" 310 miles from the West side of Kansas City, MO.
