Need some help here. I have never done this but know that it has been done over the years.

When installing the cylinder and head from the XR500 on to the 350X engine,..what was done as far as modifications to the crankcase is concerned?? Did the stud pattern from the 350X crankcase line up with the XR500 cylinder??

I haven't found one of these engines already apart yet,..so I have no way of knowing unless some of you guys have already tried it.

F.Y.I.,,,This engine is going to be put into a 1992 TRX250X frame.
Thanks for any input.

I haven't seen that done before. There is a guy on another website that is doing the 350x, xr500 motor conversion to his trike. He shows pics of the motor, frame, and other parts he had to fabricate to get it to fit. This might not help you but he might know how to help you. His name is HondaAtc. The website is www.threewheelerworld.com. Check it out. His section is under restoring.

I've read an old DirtWheels where a XR500 head was installed on the 350X cylinder but then the cylinder was bored out to 450cc. It did not say what had to be done, if anything, for the XR head to work. I believe it was Four Stroke Tech. You might try calling them and ask some questions.

Thanks for the help guys. While I would like to use the cylinder to get some extra cc's if it works,....the head is what I'm really trying to get swapped. Why Honda never put the RFVC head on the 350X,300EX,etc...is beyond me. Anyways, thanks again.

I have done the head conversion. Its not a RFVC head you use.Its an FT500 head. With a 6mm stroker and 92mm resleeve in the std cylinder you get real close to 500cc.I will post more info about the conversion tomorrow.

Thanks for the correction in the cylinder head design. I've been looking high and low for something I don't need. LOL.

Thanks in advance for any further info.
