Clutch spring change (jetting change?)
#1
I am going to upgrade to a white or green clutch spring on my 96 explorer 400 2stroke. The only other mod I have on it is a .40 overbore and a k&n air filter. If I change to a different primary cluth spring do I have to rejet? I didn't rejet after installing the k&n filter, should I?

No, you don't have to rejet. The only time you should rejet is if you modify the carb, exhaust, reeds, sometimes air filter, or anything to do with the motor. If you replace the primary spring with a green spring it will engage extremely high making it hard to trail ride slowly. It will not even engage until you hit about half throttle and then hold on because your going for a ride. Some bikes are different than others as far as it engages. It just depends on your mods.

I have a green spring on my sportsman and it works real good the way i have it set up.But i have a pipe and rejetted the carb which is real easy to do on a 400.I have a whaite spring in my 425 magnum and it doesnt engage has high as the green. If you dont want it to have a high stall then go with a white. The green was in mine before i put the pipe on and it made it wicked in the trails now it is even worse. I love it.
