taller tires on Rancher

Just got my 4x2 Rancher. can I replace the 25" tires on the rear with 26" tires? Will I loose an appreciable amount of power? Can I leave the 25's on the front, with 26's on the rear? How about the lug bolt pattern? Universal or different with all ATV's ?
