New owners impressions so far

I have only had my DS for about 5 days but here is what I've found:
The steering problem doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me. Every magazine is constantly complainging about it but it doesn't seem that bad to me.
Damn it is one heavy mother. I haven't had it in the air yet but putting that thing on my trailer is a task
The power is excellent. I can't se me needing anymore but I'm sure I'll get used to it and want to do some mods.
The stock tires do suck. I was spinning on everything (pavement, gravel, mud, etc)
Overall I'm very happy with the purchase. For the type of riding I'm going to be doing it's about perfect. It sure does draw a lot of looks when I'm trailering down the highway.

The only time that I really notice the weight is when I'm trying to physicaly move it, you'll get used to it. If you haven't done so already check the toe setting, measure to the same place on the tire in the front and the back the, they should measure 1/8" wider in front than back (Bomber calls for 1/8" toe out) but some guys do like 0" toe, Bomber dealers are somewhat nortorious for haveing the toe set incorectly (it was set at 2" out for one guy), I only recomend this because there have been so many guys that had the toe set incorrectly and it will affect the handeling, I'll bet that does get some looks in Iowa, have fun with the new toy

You will get use to the weight as DSjockey said. Take it for a "flight" it jumps great and the landing.....smooth as silk. Watch your chain roller, it will wear out quick. I use a skateboard wheel for a chain roller and it works great. I've had it on for a year now with no prtoblems. I got it at a skateboard shop used and for free with used bearings. There are "tailor" made chain rollers out there also. The DS turnes heads down here in Florida too.

The skateboard wheel works great. I paid for my wheel, and got some used bearings for free. (You'll need 4 of them, and the guys at the shop will give you weird looks.) I guess those used bearings were too junky for a skateboard, but for a chain roller they're far superior to that sleeve that the factory uses. I agree with what the other guys have said, the weight takes getting used to. It gives you a good reason to go work out in the gym or whereever, because you know you've got muscle when the DS650 starts getting too easy to move. I have a problem with the tires also... They just plain suck.. too low rev limiter, exsessively wide for trail riding. And im not sure if it is the tires or the width or the weight or all combined, but it gets stuck easily in creeks and on slightly muddy hill climes. Other than that It has a real strong motor, Real stable at high speeds, Feels great when it is the air, Really comfortable(well for me Im 6ft,3in). And on an Asphalt road it beats Raptors... Sooo I love it..
