Take the 300EX. It will be right up there with the 400 Sport with a few mods. I know you said that you didn't have alot of money for mods., but you can't do that in this situation. Either bike will cost you bucks to be competitive. 1000.00 in mods. for the 300EX...OR 1000.00 in repairs for the 400 Sport??

Take the 300EX. Even if you don't have 1000.00...at least it will keep going.

Smae here, Id go for the 300 becase it is a manual transmition instead of automatic. When going down a hill on the 300 you can down shift to stay at a constant speed but with the automatic 400 it will keep going faster and faster causing you to ride the brake.

If you like to shift-----300ex
If you like automatics-----sport 400
If you like 4 srokes-----300ex
If you like 2 strokes-----sport 400

My friends Sport 400 was a lemon. It was in the shop much more than the trails. I dont know about everyon elses though. My friends 300 ex has also had some problems.

If money is that tight, my advice is to get a second job and buy a 400ex. Drive a cab, get a paper route, or something. Work like Santa'a elves to make the extra cash!

Just kidding. In all seriousness, I agree with KNOWSALOT and BomBanshee. Whatever you can afford, make your choice the Honda EX. You'll be happier in the long run.

By the way, Bombanshee...nice quad!
