Just wondering if the 2001 450 ES is a good machine? It will be used mostly for trail riding. The dealers have a bunch of new 2001 available. Thanks for your comments.

 

They will soon have a bunch of 2002s, in their shop, being repaired. They were all recalled.

 

I know 4 guys who own 450ES's, and they have all had problems with the "ES" part of that quad. Beyond that they have been good quads.

The recall is old news. It involved a possible bad weld on the wheels. Doesnt hurt to bring it up as a reminder though, (in case some owners missed it.) I believe it only involved units made before Oct 1 2001.
As for the ES system...there was a battery drain problem on the early models 1998 or 1999 I think. No recalls since then.
