What does it take to make a 400 ex beat a stock Raptor?

I suspect it can be done, but how far do you have to go? Can a few simple mods such as a pipe and header, drilled holes in the airbox, and some other small mods do it, or would you have to go all out and get a 440 big bore and porting? I'd appreciate any feedback. I like my 400ex, but I'd love to have a Raptor, but I can't just talk myself into buying a Yamaha, my buddies will rag on me! If I could get Raptor like performance out of my ex, I'd be extremely happy.

Two of the guys I ride with have a 400EX and a Raptor. To get the 400 to run with the Raptor (it was piped, jetted and airbox mods at the time), the 400EX needed a 440 big bore, 10:1 piston, Web Cam mid-top cam w/springs, ported head, K&N filter-no lid, jet kit, full exhaust. With this setup the two bikes were virtually equal when drag racing in the sand with paddles.
I have seen fully modded 400EX's run pretty well at Little Sahara. In fact, a few aren't too far behind some mildly ported, piped Banshees.

Dont convert to the dark side by getting a raptor. Spand a good 1k or so and u will have a very strong EX that can kill raptors and mildly built banshees. Hondas handle better anyways. good luck.....
