Today I went up with one of my friends (he has a 400EX) to his house to see how his dad is doing on rebuilding his 92 QuadRacer from thew frame up. I'm doing the same thing to my 86' right now so he gave me some stuff for it. He just got PeP shocks so he gave me his front stock ones. Will they fit on my 86? they look the same except a little longer. That means more travel, which is what I want. I'll probably try them on tomorrow but if they don't fit I'll sell them.

The 85-86 LT's front shocks are 12.38 inches long from bolt hole to bolt hole. The 87-92 LT's front shocks are 15.00 inches long from bolt hole to bolt hole. You might be able to run the 92 shocks if you switch to the newer 87-92 front A-arms. The newer A-arms are 1" wider each side than the 85-86 A-arms. The 92 shocks will put to much stress on your ball joints from being to long. Hope this helps

He just got new a-arms too so I might be able to get those. But I don't really know if they'll fit.

The mounting points of the shocks are also different. The 86s have the shocks mounted underneath the top frame rail and the 87+ have them on top of the rails.
