Does anyone have any expierience or input on running 26" tires on my Kodiak. I would think I would lose a small amount of power or speed but nothing substantial while gaining some clearence and traction. I havent heard of any one putting larger tires on the new Kodiak. The riding I do is a little of everything from hardpack to snow and mud. The stock tires are ok but from what I read the after market ones will pretty much blow them away. Do you see any problems with any components this may affect. Eventually I would like to do some minor upgrades on the perfomance side like a different filter,pipe and jets. Really I shouldn't be changing any thing as the machine is awesome as it is but I guess it doesn't hurt to make a good thing even better if you can. I am just concerened with hurting something by changing from stock. Any ideas on this would be helpful. Thanks

 

I have tried 26" super swampers on mine, I borrowed them off a friend to try them. They were 26"12"12 all 4. The kodiak worked pretty good didn't really take from the power to much, the only thing I found is that for the sticky mud you would have to throw it into low but thats no big deal. You could still spin them up pretty good.

Yes,Yes,Yes I have 26x9x12 frt. and 26x12x12 on rear. If you think your kodiac is sweet now do this and you will really like it. I put mud sharks on mine and let me tell you what it really goes anywhere now. No power loss I could notice and remember you always have low if you need it. As far as winch goes mount it on top of front rack. This way you can get to it easier for free spooling and maintinance thats where mine is and it looks and works great.

 

Have you had any problems with your winch mounted near the top of the tubes. I just got my kodiac 3 weeks ago, and I got the winch yesterday. I really do not want to mount the thing down where there kit goes. I was looking to weld a plat right across just above the radiator and then run a support down to the lower bar is that how you did it? Thanks.

 

MACM you do not need to get that elaborate on your mount I simply mounted my winch on a piece of steel plate and bolted it to the flat bars on the rack. I have used it alot and had no problems and it looks very neet and clean.
