Odd sand tire question.

I love throwing a big, fat, mean, ugly, roost in the sand. I have a set of Edges that are good for playing but they're only 20". I've realized I'll never be the fastest in a drag because at 320 lbs my power to weight ratio suffers just a tad. So call me funny but what paddle throws up the most sand? Hauler, Brat, Rooster, ???.
Also, I'm looking for a good dedicate front sand tire. I'm looking at the Mohawks, Maxxis Front Roosters, and the other types of fronts. Anyone have experience on what works the best up front?

I am right there with ya on the weight issue. I run the 20" hauler on my baja and it throws a nice roost. I really like that tire. I run stock gearing for now.
I have seen the adds for the rooster, that looks interesting, I would like to see them in person.
As for fronts, I have not made up my mind. I have some razorbacks on the raptor and I really dont like them. They work well sometimes, but if just cruising around they seem to try and pull the quad anytime they hit a groove or rut. It kind of tires the arms out.
I think I would look at the mowhauks for the front, might be the best of both worlds, I also have thought about the smooth buffs.
Good luck in your search and keep us posted. I would like to hear what you decide and how it works.

Bat,I have not tried moving the edges in,but have been told and seen this many a times in the dunes. With the 22" rear haulers, you need all the steering help you can get.I would think with 20" haulers or v paddles this would be a good idea.

I have the STU Padlla Brats. They come 21" with 9 paddles. I do NOT through as much roost as people running Haulers.

I have to agree with the folks that say the Haulers throw the most roost. Taller Haulers throw even more, but may be too tall for most mild bikes.
I do have a different view for front tires though. I tried a new tire, based stricly on it apearance, and I could not be happier with it. I use a Kings Tire, Sand Rib. It's a symetrical tire[there is no left or right] with one rib in the center and somewhat square shoulders to it. The shoulders actually seem to help bite the sand, providing great handling, while keeping some of the side wall off the sand, reducing rolling resistance. I use these with Edge rear tires, and have not ridden a better handling DS in the sand.
I recomend these Kings for drag or handling. Weight is about equal to Razor Backs[I thought they were heavier untill compairing them side by side].
