Hey guys,

Well the debate ended today when I went and rode a 1998 Alba Warrior.. I wound up taking it home with me.. Anyway.. this is what I'm thinking as far as mods, etc.

I would like to first get skidplates and nerfbars.. Who makes strong and well fitting skidplates? I am going to go with AC Nerf Bars, I hear the webbing is replaceable, etc..

THen, I would like to get a pipe and filter, etc.. I am not worried about top end.. I would like to KEEP the top end I have, but I would like to increase torque.. I'm a torque lover. So, I also understand with a pipe I will have to rejet, etc.. So I am ready to do that..

I also need to know what kinda oil you guys are using, what kinda of filters and what the oil capacity is..

I'm also going to get new tires.. maybe razrs??

Thanks

Jeff

Try AC for the skids. I have them on my Banshee, and they fit well. As far as a pipe goes....i had a 2001 Warrior and put a Duncan Pipe on it. Gave me great overall performance, but be prepared for some noise. Pipes do make the 4 strokes loud! Mine sounded like a helecopter. As far as oils, i just ran the Yamalube.

Hope this helps

PRM-ATV for the skids -full frame, a-arm and swingarm. I bought them all, they fit great, are less money than everybody else, take a beating and PRM is great to deal with. Have since used them for my DS650. Website is www.prm-atv.com.

tell me about the Alba warrior. did they accessories it any. or is it stock warrior bought through Alba.

i would recomend: Changing the air filter to a pro-flo design. this should also help with the new pipe and jetting. check out PRM for skid plates they'll make that warrior look bullet proof.

i also replaced rims and tires with ITP hole shots XTC's and douglas rims with Raptor offsets. this required me to add 1.5 durablu whell spacers up front. This i highly recommend. the itp eliminated the side to side roll and the wider stance keeps the wheels planted in the turns.

Mounted a denton steering stabilizer to calm things down in the rocky trails. and changed handle bars to TAG cr highbend. this makes standing while you ride more managable on the warrior. the stock handlebars are the worst.

i have not touched the engine or piped it. these changes have made the machine 30% more managable. whitch in turn, allows you to ride faster and be in more control. i think i would try shocks next...before i touch the engine.

recap warriors weak points:
air filter (must go)
handle bars (especially the stock hand grips...ouch!)
tires (stop the roll...control)
shocks (after they heat up...useless)

It's my understanding that the Alba Warriors already have a pipe, air filter, and jet kit on them. If not, maybe someone bought some Alba stickers, put them on, and said it was an Alba Warrior. Check out www.albaaction.com to see what they come with when you buy a new one from them.

Raptor660RNH: I think the options on the Alba vary.. I checked the website.. You can ask for pipe's etc.. This warrior has the stock pipe I'm positive.. I am not sure whether or not any other work has been done.. I don't know what a stock air filter looks like.. It runs great and looked good so I took it home. MattDewalt: How do you like those Bearclaws?? I am thinking about putting some on the rear of this Warrior.. Just not sure what front tires I need.. The only thing on this warrior that needs replacement are the tires.. They're the originals..

I am going to check PRM and AC for skids..

Thanks guys..

Jeff

For skidplates, I definitely recommend the PRM Plates. They cost less, and don't vibrate like DG and AC plates do. As far as tires go, I'd stick with the 22 inch rears, and put on the Maxxis All Tracs. My friend has them on his Warrior, and they hook up very well. I wouldn't put a mud tire like the bearclaw on unless you want to strictly ride mud. The All Tracs are an excellent all around tire. They come in 4-ply so you won't get the punctures, and they have less body roll compared to stock. I had a Supertrapp 4 inch race exhaust with 12 discs on a 96 warrior, and that pipe gave it alot of torque. My buddy has the FMF Megamax II pipe on his, and he likes that pipe alot too. You can order a White Brothers Torque Valve for $20. It's an insert for your headpipe that helps suck the exhuast gasses out. Works like a venturi nozzle in a turbine. Anyway...it works, and it'll give you the best bang for your buck. My friend and I have both used them on Warriors, and a Wolverine. White Bros only makes this part for those 2 bikes.

By the way, that'd probably be my Warrior Chad's referring to. The Maxxis All Tracks (stay with 22x11x9)are awesome, too bad the Warrior doesnt come with them, biggest single improvement. My other reccomendation is a steering stabilizer, next to the tires it was the best bang for the buck even better than the works shock I bought and much cheaper too.

The Bearclaws are a great tire. However, they are really aggressive. I took mine in the sand and stopped. When I went to pull out, all four tires wanted to dig holes instead of moving me forward. But for all other surfaces they seem to work great. I like them alot better then the Blackwaters I had before. For sand, you would probably be better off with a wide tire that's designed to float on top.
