delta,

Congratulations on the plow purchase - and just in time . I'm sure you'll enjoy plowing with the Cat, it quickly became my favorite tool for snow removal. I find myself making up excuses to use the Cat instead of the tractor . Make sure you post your assessment after you've used it.

Plowing snow is a blast with this thing! It really moves the snow quite well...I need low range to really stack the piles, though...I need a little practice in plowing, that's for sure...I hit a few objects, but no damage...I did have one nagging problem, my winch hook kept coming off the hoist connection on the plowframe...I'd go to raise the plow, and it wouldnt move...I'd have to get off and lower the hook, and hook it back to the u-bolt...Must be some kinda fix for this (maybe I'll get a hook with a snap-gate)..Had a lot of interested people give me some looks as they were driving by the end of my driveway while I was playing with this thing..This Moose setup is RUGGED...Very well built...I thought it was over-built, but actually the weight helps the blade stay on the ground (most of the time)...Now I kinda wished I had bought the 'county' style plow, but overall I very satisfied with the 60" plow... I took the hook off my winch and use what I call a shackle (pear-shaped ring with a snap in it). I use this with the winch full time, and just snap it to one of the winch mount handles when I'm not using it. Works good for me.

What is a "county" style plow?

Glad to hear the cat likes to play with toys!

A county plow is a tapered plow where the plow is higher on one end then the other. They are designed to be a one way plow, where the short end leads the tall end, and the taper allows the snow to roll off and be thrown farther. I presume the "county" part of it comes from the design being from truck-mounted plows that counties use to plow snow.
