Too cold for any mud (-30C) [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img] but will warm up for tomorrow and the weekend. Will play in the snow and see where I can go. A word on caution in deep snow and big mud tires.

The quad will want to hop once you get into the deep deep snow and your drive shaft will bind and start knocking. DO NOT DO THAT. Once it starts happening just stop and then go again. Keep doing this untill your unstuck.

I know with my outlaws on and in deep snow the quad will hop easily and it really sucks because you can damage your machine like this pretty easy. The same thing holds true for trucks too.

 

Thanx bbertram, I will definetly be on wht watch for that. Have seen it happen on a truck before but didn't consider it on the quad.

Sounds like the machine is getting so much traction that the drive train is binding because of no slippage and hopping. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img] Like a FWD truck with monster tires and a locked rear end turning a corner on black top... or I could be mistaken. Quad hopping is new to me. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

Not really sure how to explain it, it just hops. It doesn't happen all the time but it happens enough and has the potential to wreck your quad. I don't know 100% what causes it but it has to do with traction and very fine powdery deep snow. For trucks it can happen on hard pack snow or deep snow.
