Bbertram said in another post about how the bolts holding on the exhaust heat shield were loose.. and then i got to thinking.. i don't think my cat has a metal heat shield over the exhaust pipe. I know that the previous year's cats had them. Is my quad supposed to have one?

I don't have a garage in the house where i live, the cat is at my brother's house, so I can't go out and check again to make sure (I am 99% sure there is not one). BUT i know for sure that there is heat shield adhesive stuff lining components around the exhaust. It is shiny and caught my attention right away. At first i figured it was the norm.. but now i am not sure.. does everyone's cat have this?

thanks

NeWf, I'm not sure about the other model's but the "i" models do not have a metal heat shield bolted to the exhaust. They just have the heat shield tape you mentioned in the battery tray area and other area's down the left side.

thanks crazy cat. I am glad to hear that this IS the way it is supposed to be. The thing is bbertram has an i model, and he is the one that mentioned it, so i figured the "i" models had it. Guess not.

NeWf, Your right, bbertram does mention a heat sheild While the other guys were talking about the clamp from the muffler onto the pipe. I checked and the shield bbertram must be talking about is on the left side where..... let's say the calf of your leg would be.Protecting your leg from the pipe itself. Here is a great site for referencing parts for your machine! Arctic Cat parts list

Hey guys. Just a little clarification

<< My exhaust shield on the shifter side had 2 or 3 loose bolts >>

.

Other than that everything else seems to be tight, except for my exhaust clamp, in cold weather you can see exhaust coming out from where tail pipe and the muffler join. Also it still idles like crap sometimes. Can't wait to get it back to the dealership for my FREE tuneup. At least it better be free.

I can't wait for spring, the MUD is going to be GREAT !!!!
