Just in case anybody is trying to snorkel their exhaust but doesn't want to spend the coins on an aftermarket pipe, only to canibalize it....
Take the muffler off, and cut about a 2" hole out of the center of the end of it... either bend or cut the flat baffle just inside there out of your way... Have a muffler shop bend and weld in 1 1/2 or 1 3/4" pipe (be there when they bend it so you can have input... I am friends with the guy that did mine... so it was easy to tell him what I was trying to acheive..)
After thats in place, have them close off the factory exhaust outlet... We just welded the opening shut... that way if I aver want to open it back up...
Oh, and put a muffler clamp on the pipe where it passes the rack support...
Then go play in the DEEP water!!!...
IT sounds pretty good.. not too loud, but definitely different... seems to have freed up a few ponies too...!!

how does that exaust help, its just blowing air out, and you siad muffler, so that doesnt mean the PVT exaust, what is the advantage of having a snorkeled pipe? I ride all the time with ym pipe underwater... also how cna you go play in REAl deep stuff, there is the carb and the PVT vent to worry about

Clind...
The idea is that if you stall out in deep water, you wont have to worry about water back-filling your exhaust and possibly filling your cylinder with water...
Another advantage is that I/we have found that in some heavy mud... if you stay in it long and go idle...(like being stuck, waiting on somebody to pull you out) Heavy mud doesn't move easy and can actually kill the engine.... I first noticed it on the Magnum when trying to work my way thru the LONG deep mudhole... the mud was a thick soup and then engine got to where it didn't want to rev out.... as soon as the muffler exit came out of the mud... it ran perfect... so I went back in it to confirm my suspicions.. and it did it again...
Yes, I have a PVT and carburetor intake to worry about... but this is one less thing to worry about.. If it gets that deep and I stop.. I shouldnt have been there to begin with.. and its probably time to BAIL!!....
Yes.. Im gonna get some pictures this weekend at the mudrun and I will attempt to post them... My computer skills aren't the greatest... But, with two scanners, I should be able to come up with something.....
