Hello everyone,
I had the side plastic off of the gear selector side today and found a problem that ya'll could also have.
The first swivel {heim joint}on the linkage has a bolt connecting it to the shifter. On mine this bolt has been rubbing against the plastic fuel tank. I loosened the gear selector bracket on the frame, pulled it away from the tank, and snugged it back up...simple fix! EVERYONE PLEASE take a look at yours because if this does cause a leak, it will fall right on the exhaust pipe.

If anyone else finds this problem, reply to this post and I will contact Polaris.
thanks, Dale MY PICS

you know, one would think that someone at the plant would have noticed it rubbing BEFORE the side plastic was put on and corrected it!
was your bike one of the first 700's?

You should notify your dealer and they should contact Polaris to see if this is a problem. I hate to see anyone have a problem on the trail. Great job.

I found that mine was also rubbing against the fuel tank, but only if I was putting inward pressure on the shifter when shifting. As long as I put a little outward pressure on the shifter when shifting, it would clear by about a 1/8". I will say that I have learned more from these forums than one could imagine. It's getting a little old though, telling the mechanics what problems to look for and how to fix them.

Hello again,
I called Polaris and E-mailed them and also contacted my dealer about the possible fuel tank leak. Everyone seemed concerned and said they would address the problem.
I appreciate the compliments for the correct usage of this forum, and would like to say, it's a shame you had to compliment me for that.

And to VeryPicky,
I have also learned alot from these forums. I think it is extremely beneficial for 1st year quad owners like ourselves. For instance, my dealer is very small and has only recieved and sold 2 sp700's, so the only problems he knows of is mine and that other guys.
I told him about this forum and how it could benefit him, he agreed and will read this I'm sure. I personally look as this forum as a tool!:
Thanks , Dale
