Need HELP wiring cargo box brake light !
#1
Here's the deal. We have a cargo box/backrest by motovan. It has a brake light built in that has a red and black wire coming out of it. The question is how which wires do we splice with what? The brake light on the quad has a plug with 3 wires, brown, yellow, and red. They plug into another mass of wires... if anyone knows what to do please give me some instructions.
Thanks in advance

On the quad brown is ground and red is the pos for the brake light. I would assume red "pos" and black "ground" on the box. Be sure and solder the connections and use liquid electrical tape to seal the wires up good.

Yea you are right. I posted this and then went at it again. It turns out that we had it right the first time matching black to brown and red to red, but the clip connectors we were using hadn't cut right through the wire insulation. We stuck the two cargo box wires in the socket for the brake lights to figure out what was what and then connected it up again, clipping them better. It works great now. We didn't seal around the clips.. should we? They fit pretty snug, i doubt a lot of water would get in there.. but is it a big problem if any does?
thanks for your help non the less!

When you get water in the connections it just causes corrosion. Which leads to short circuts down the road, and intermiten electrical problems. If it was mine I would solder the connections then seal them up real good to keep moisture out. I hate tracking electrical problems down they can cause all kinds of weird problems that take time to track down. A little prevention goes a long way to keeping your new wheeler in top notch shape. That's my two cents.
