DS650 owners, will it be my next sport quad?
#1
Ok, I am going to get a new sport quad. I am laning twords the DS650. I have a Scrambler 400 2x4, and it's getting old real fast. Ok, I have a question or two for you Ds owners.
1) How hard is it to wheelie? I like wheelies.
2)Does it sound cool? I've heard a Raptor and the sound badddd. Does the DS sound anything like it?
3) Is it hard to steer? Remember I had a Scrambler, is it any harder to control than that? How is the handling?
4) Is it worth the extra money for the Baja edition than the regular DS?
5) Is there any known problems with the DS that I need to know about?
6) Is the transmission easy to shift, and smoth? I had an automatic.
7) What are the best accessories? I will definately get Nerf bars
8) Are the mud capabilities better or worse than my Scram?
What is your honest opinion about the Ds, and is it worth all that money to finance, and Save, over my Scrambler. What are the main differences? Oh yeah, and tell the good things, like the safety so my Parents can see.

1. Harder than most. It's a big machine.
2. It sounds just as good as the raptor
3. Yes. It's wide and if you run tight trails you have to be careful
4.Yes it's only $99
5. Not really anything big like the transmissions going out, if you know what I mean
6. Yes it's smooth

It can be wheelied but I can't do it. I have seen some guys wheelie in sand with the stock kendas! There is a trick to it on the ds, but I just suck at wheelies. Maybe the 760 kit will help me out!

If you put a pipe on the DS it will wheelie much easier, but stock it has weak low-end power & crappy tires (ex the BAJA). When mine had the stock pipe the sound reminded me of a detuned crotch rocket when you nail it.
I had a modded Scrambler 400 4X4. Nice quad, but once you ride the DS you won't miss the Scrambler... trust me.
3TV is right, A stock DS is so much better than a modded Scrambler you won't need mods right away. The pull on top end in 3rd gear up will make you smile real wide.
My first mod was Graydon nerf bars, after the floorboard protection of the Scrambler I felt "naked".
I pay less for my DS than I did for my Scrambler, what a deal huh!!!???

I put ohtsu radials on my DS, and the traction is good compared to the kendas, wheelies in any gear (well, up to fourth anyway) have now become more easily possible.
My stock rims look like crap 'cause no rolled edge - lots of little dents.
Baja comes with ohtsu radials and awesome rims - nicer than any aftermarket reinforced rim I've ever seen.
Raptor is easiest machine in the world to wheelie. I took my buddies raptor for a ride today and the first thing I noticed was how easy it is to tip over. I ride it once in a while, and each time I like it less. The DS is so much wider, and the seat is actually lower, and I've gotten so used to it that I can't ride anything else anymore, and I was weaned on three wheelers!
DS is so stable, you're safer doing 75pmh on it than 55 on any other machine. Tell that to your parents!
If you get it, life as you know it will never be the same....
