Just wanted to know why everyone runs different ratios for theit two stroke motor. I just bought my 2000 Banshee and the dealer informd me to run 40:1. Which is one pint of Yamalube/per 5 gallons
of gas. Yes, I have a ratio/rite cup too. Some people run 32:1, The MANUAL says 24:1. I called the guy in the Service Department at Yamaha. He states that he has been premixing oils/gas for 17
years and reccommeneds that 40:1 is the best. What's your comments and what do you run?

It depends on the oil, if you run a good synthetic the you can go 40:1. BelRay MC1 is designed to be run at 50:1, that is what I have been running in my 250r for years without a single problem. Less oil also keeps the fuel octane up and reduces plug fouling.

Does MC-1 run good at 50:1? I've been using it and have been putting 1 botttle to 4 gallons of gas instead of 5. For some reason I just think that 50:1 is too lean, what's your opinion?

I have been running it at 50:1 for almost 5 years now and I've had no bottom end problems, replaced the piston only twice, and never ever fouled a plug. When I replaced the piston it was totally free of carbon build up and I only replaced it because it was simply worn out, never seized on me and I do ALOT of top end stints on the ice and the fire roads down in the Pine Barrens.

i have owned my 93 banshee since it was 9months old and the only oil i've used in it is mc1 mixed 50:1. the original rings are still in this engine, and it runs as good as the day i got it.

I have a 99 Banshee that's one year old now and I have used both Belray MC1 and Yamalube 2R. I have never had any problems with either oils. I run the MC1 at one bottle to 5 gallons (50:1) and the Yamalube at the same one bottle for 5 gallons (40:1). I have never fouled a single plug in the year I have had my bike. Nothing has ever gone wrong with my bike. I have added a few things to it and haven't changed my ratio. Honda did recommend Yamalube for some of their two strokes at one time. My friend swears by MC1. He rode for 6 years with the same topend and it still had 146 PSI after all that time. He rides it like he stole it too. That says it works in my opinion.
