now that i have my quad i would like to put a pipe on it. i am looking at the alba pipe kit with jet, k+n, and exhaust. has anybody used this. see much of a power gain? they are claming 10 hp on the low and mid. seems a little high but maybee not. give me your thoughts. thanks the saint

 

I'm not a DS owner but, as you can see I have the Alba kit on my Raptor. I like it. Its not as nice looking as other pipes but the power gains Ive recieved make up for that. I have much improved low and mid range power. The top end is not as noticable. The only draw back i experienced so far is thtat the packing has come out between the screened insert and the housing. I have used high temp scilicone to fill in the gaps and so far so good. Re packed of course. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

I have the Alba pipe, no airbox and a 172.5 main jet. The power ganes are verry nice more in the mid. The only bad thing is that the pipe dose not stay shiney long and if you put extra disks on it. It will not clear a 6-pac rack you will half to redrill the rack. The pipe goes on easy. It has a nice sounl to it. It comes with 6 or 9 disks and i run it with 19. Will try to get a pic up.

 

Thats not very many disks. The pipe for a Raptor comes with 12. Will be getting more as I want at least 16-20 myself. What differences did it make for you when you added disks? TIA

 

It took away a little of the bottom, but added quite a bit on the top ware i wanted it.

 

6 or 9 disks? That's rediculous. That's less flow than the stock pipe. Most disk pipes come with a 12 pak, and recommend 18-20.

I run 18 disks on my RWR pipe - 10hp on the bottom is totally believable. (don't get the RWR pipe if you jump!) My 350X has 12 disks...

I've heard a lot about ceramic coming off of several other brands - I'm sticking with stainless on all future pipe purchases.

 

I have the alba pipe and 11 disc i love the pipe but i will try to make a end cap for it see what it does.

If you get a pipe with disks to get more all around power stick washers in between some of the disks, I did this with my White Bros. pipe and it helped a lot, the power gain was great.

Please elaborate. Wouldn't adding a few disks do the same thing?

You can add all the disks you want, but if you put washers in between the discs more exhaust will exit the pipe, therefore you have less backpressure which results in more horsepower. I have 18 discs with a washer in every two discs and this setup seems to work great.
