1983 CDI........Give me a ballpark clearance

Hello, I have a 1983 Honda 200 3 wheeler....Can you tell me the clearance needed between the magnet and the coil(?, (thickness of sandpaper, .030 ?). Does the clearance even matter in a situation like this?????Please reply....Thanks
