For those who own Ac nerfs? I was wanting to know if the nerfs keep the factory heel guards or not...does Graydon keep them as well?

No, with AC Racing nerfs you have to cut off the extensions to the foot pegs on the Baja model. I have them on my 2002 Baja. It looks like the Graydons might work but they are bigger, more expensive and heavier. I have them on my 2001 DS650

I have Graydon's, you can keep the heelguards with no modding, but personally I think all DS's look better cutting the extended flap off the side of the heelguard anyway - if you remove them and do it right...
I like the Graydons really well - the cross bar bolts on the front motor mounts instead of clamping around the frame tubing like some, and its plated instead of painted. They are made from bigger tubing than most, but they are strong and fit the overall appearance of the DS well.
AC bars are cheaper - and I like them too - had a hard time choosing myslef.

Hmm, I guess like anything, it's up to your taste. I have heard good and bad about both companies, and not more one than the other! Since I'm a bigger dude I'll look into the Graydons (being bigger tubing)... Price is higher, but I would ather have the quality product and pay more.
Thanks for your input fellas!

The AC Nerfs bolt the same way as the Graydon, onto the motor mount with longer bolt. The AC are one piece where the Graydon have a chomed pipe between both sides. The AC are smaller in size but the tubing is the same size. The Graydon stick out past the wheels a little and the AC are in just a little and also slant in. I actually like the shape and size of the AC better. I have Graydon on the 2001 and AC on the 2002. With the AC you have to cut off the heel extensions, But they fit nice. I would buy the AC again and save the $50 extra for Graydons with shipping.

The Graydon's are adjustable in position, you can have them set in narrower than the tires, or wider, depending on where you drill the holes in your pegs. I have the Roll Design cast stainless pegs, and they came with holes cast into them for nerf bar mounting already - only thing is the position of these holes make for no adjustment in width, and my bars are set in 1/2" from tire path. I really wanted them to be an inch in, so they don't catch as much on the woods trails, but oh well, not far off I guess.

I didn't try installing the Graydons on stock pegs, there may be a reason you can't position them in as far as I have like dhendricks is saying.

The Graydon and the AC hit the foot pegs and supports so they only go in so far.
