Kases Skyhawk keeps blowing fuses...help please! :(
#1
Our Daughter has a Kasea Skyhawk 90. For about three monhts now, we have been trying to fugure out why it keeps blowing fuses. We have had it in the shop 3 times now, and frankly im tired of it! They dont know what to check, all the wiring has been checked and rechecked, and cleaned of dirt and mud. Any helpful suggestions would be great. THANKS!!! There are a couple of areas that could cause that pesky fuse to blow.
First check the wire at and near the battery. I have seen them pinched to the frame. It that does not do it, read on:
1. Under the front plastic, find the plug connector from the main switch. Unplug this connector, clean out any green debris and pack the connector with di-electric silicone tune-up grease (any auto parts store has it). Water tends to get into this connector and cause all sorts of problems -- including the more common "it will not start" syndrome.
2. If that does not work, go to that same plug and disconnect the Brown wire from the plug connector. Run the Kasey and see if the fuse holds. If it does, you will need to check that Brown wire. It runs from the switch to the brake light switch (not used but still there)it is the open plug with with the Brown and Green/Yellow wire. That Brown wire also runs to the oil level sending unit (top of injection oil tank). From there, the Green wire leaving the oil sending unit goes to the oil light next to the main switch.
3. Now, if you still have a problem, disconnect the red wire from the battery. You will need to go to the Rectifier located under the right front fender. It is a silver cast box mounted with one screw and a green plug. From there, cut the red wire and run a temporary wire from the red rectifier connection to the battery (separated by a fuse).

Kasea recently ran into a batch of the rear Showa shocks that are BAD. Some have no compression dampening and too much rebound dampening while others have just the opposite. Showa is working on the problem and should have updated shocks out in a few days. If this is the problem you are trying to correct, call your dealer and have them place a warranty order for a replacement rear shock.
On the other hand, if your shock is fine, you can adjust the spring preload using a large channel lock if you do not have a spanner wrench. Have someone lift the rear of the atv to take any extra load off the spring adjuster while you make this change.
