If there is anyone here from Wisconsin, I have some really messed up news. Me and 5 friends were riding on a track that we make in about a 20 ac. field. The cops were called for excessive noise. Come to find out, the Wisconsin law for noise desibles is only 80. I don't think there is a stock quad out there at that! lol Everyone that I was with has a modified exhaust, so we all put our stockers back on so we could keep riding there.

 

The next time the guy who called the cops mows his grass, call the cops yourself 'cause he'll be breaking the law with his Lawnboy.

I have heard it from a DNR warden and read it on this forum that it is illegal to modify the exhaust on a ATV or SNOWMOBILE in Wisconsin! A friend of mine was stopped on his snowmobile for a modified exhaust. Yet, I have not seen this law in writing anywhere. Nor have I seen any law about a decibal limit! I really don't know what the exact law is. I highly doubt it is 80 decibals. I think a stock DS650 is about 87 decibals. Can anybody guess what a new snowmobile would be? I know I can hear them flying down the trail behind my house that is about 2 miles away!! How about dirt bikes? They're even louder than an ATV!

 

All I can say is "me and my ds won't be going to wisconsin," that's crazy[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif[/img]

WISCRAMBLER, yes, it is 80 DB in Wisconsin. Snowmobiles, ATVs, everything "driveable" including Harley's. The cops usually don't do anything about it, unless there is a complaint about it. When the Sheriff told us about the complaints, we asked him to find out what the rating was so that if the "quiet core" for aftermarket exhaust would be quiet enough. At 80db, I don't think a stock exhaust is!

 

Can you please enlighten me on how the sound test is done???


I was informed by Cannondale that the FX, Cannibal and Speed (with round mufflers) are only 82DB at 50 feet.
