A friend of mine has a 91 blaster. We were riding last Oct. and he start4ed hearing some noise from the rear of the engine area. I think the trans is in the rear of the engine, but not positive. I was riding very close behind him and could hear it also .. It like a rattle sound. We get back to the trucks and listen a little closer. It is coming from the rear of the bike for sure and is a definite heavy rattle, kinda like some nuts and bolts in a coffe can kinda sound. Sorry for the pour visuals. This happened the next ride after changing his clutch cable. The clutch still works mechanically, and can actually still ride the bike. But the harid sound scares us. It s seems to be grabbing a gear when in neutral, it wants to move a little while in neutral.
Does anyone have any idea what this could be and what exactly can be done. We both agree it is the trans. But what with the trans.. bearing, gear, seals, etc... But would like a little insight from someone else !!

i am not sure about the noise but the clutch cable may be adjusted wrong if the bike jumps a little ahead while pulling the clutch in and putting the bike in first adjust the cable and try the cluth each time

 

drain the oil and check for any metal flakes in the oil and replace the oil sometimes this fixes shifting problems for a while
