yeah....what paddles are better skat-trak edge or sand tires unlimeted SS2....ive heard good things about edge such as lightweight and bad things such as glued togeter and same w/ the ss2's.....they are molded (good) and they weigh alot (bad)...so anyone tested them both on a 400? and if i go w/ the edge ..... how many paddles should i get???.....and dont be fooled, my name suggests pismo and dont be thinking i dont have paddles. I just borrowed the 7 paddle gliders from my 200x and slapped them on the new ex. the gliders just dont hook up good enough for me. ive never had any experience w/ V paddles so just help me out here thanks

If it were up to me, I'd get the Skate IIs. I've had puncture problems and delamination problems with Skat Traks, although, I've seen people run them for many years. Just my experience.
If you've never run chevron paddles, you'll notice they turn easier and have a little less hookup for straight ahead. For a basically stock 400, that ought to be the tire. I've always run 8 paddles on everything from a 200X to my 250R.

SS2's are to heavy for a 400EX and the edge's are to small for good float/top speed. We had a set of teh edge's on a 400EX and they were BAD.
If your an avid duner I suggest Sand Skate 1's comp cut. These float great, have good top end and last a long time. Only bad thing is the are expensive! Call Joe at Fullerton Sand Sports 714-898-2049.

I have run Edges on all my sport bikes for many years, and have had no problems. Run at least 8 paddles on the 400EX, maybe 10 if highly moded. I find that 6 paddles isn't enough even for a moded 300EX. With to few paddles, there is a lot of wheel slipage because of the large empty spaces between the paddles.

I know you weren't asking about them...but I've got the new Gecko's on my 400ex, and they do a really good job. I beat a guy with an almost identical bike (pipe, filter, jet kit) who was running the 8 paddle haulers. I also weigh about 40-50 pounds more than him. The one difference I noticed between the two after riding his bike was that mine was alot easier to turn, and that the haulers throw a ton of sand. But as far as hillclimbing ability goes, we were about dead even. I think they were worth the money, and they look pretty cool too.

i think im kinda leaning to the SS2's....BUT if i did get the geckos...do you think a 400ex w/ a pipe and jets will turn them easily??.....i like to go around spinning the tires and doing donuts and i dont like having to pop the clutch to do so I also like to make it up hills and i wont be able to do that if the tires arent spinning fast enough
