OK, I want to go out right now and buy a quad for this weekend. The question is which one? I have been looking at the Prarie 650 but I'm not sure if it will satify my sport requirement. I like to ride through the trails at high speed. Can the 650 do this??? No dealer will let me even test one.

Has anyone taken one on the sand dunes?

The 650 will definatly go thru the trails at high speeds - If you ride it really hard you will probally find that the front springs are a little weak (Progressive makes a set that seems to be working well) You may also find that the frint tires that the Prarie comes with tend to push and create understeer. A different set of tires and your kickin it with the rest of them. POWER will never be an issue!

We've had our 650's in the sand riding the last two weekends. The place is full of trails and has alot of high banks whoops on the trails. The 1st week we went there we had the 650's and had a good time. This time we decided to take our scramblers and the 650's. The Scramblers were easier to ride on the tight trails but just didn't have the power. The 650 handled the whoops alot better, but the 26" tires lift kit limited the high speed turns. They tend to grab in the semi loose and pack sand going into the high banks. I am going to purchase another set of tires and wheels for this kind of riding and then the 650 is going to be awesome.

If you can find one to ride, you should try it out. My 650 is stock and is without a doubt a faster quad than I am rider. It's a real rush to just gun it and have it pop the front and roar off.

I need to get outside more. Grrr.

I really want to get one but I can't find any dealers that will let me test ride without buying. I want to make sure I'll be able to take the quad to Sand Mountain, NV and not be completely embarrassed.

search this "Prairie 650 at the dunes" and there are two people that own them and have taken them to the dunes e-mail them and ask what they thought of them. One of them I think even put paddles on his.
