If it is a 2001, the Yamaha 2002 trans costs about $500. A shop should charge about $250 to install and the gasket set will be about $100.
Fortin gears for the 2001 (2001 ratio) are about $800 with the same install charges.
Try to get Yamaha to pay. Their standard response is No.

Call Yamaha/USA. State your case don't bitch and be NICE!!! Don't admit anything on how you ride it. They are looking for an excuse. They fixed mine six months out of warranty. I paid for labor only. 3.5 hrs at 60 bucks an hour. The rep will tell you to take it to a dealer. Take it in and tell them you have contacted the national rep and give a name of the person you talked to. You will have to pull the motor though. They are well aware of the problem, but won't tell you that. Have your vin number ready. They'll do it under the good faith program to ensure future business. Every manufacturer of a motorized vehicle does this. Toyoto, Kawasaki, Bayliner just to name a few.....

Raptor 720 you have any more info on the Fortin gears? PM me please.
I always figure pay now or pay later.
If the Fortin gears are better I will have a complete set of new 02 gears for sale.
I would rather spend the extra money and have it done right.
