I have a 95 Scrambler that I am restoring. My question is, will a newer model transmission fit into the frame? The trans that has the hi/lo option. Would it be beneficial or a hinderance?

I don't know if it will fit but if you are interested in a transmission from a 99 Sport 2wd I can give you one for half the price of a new one. Good luck

I e-mailed you earlier about the starter and the carb. I guess you didn't get it. I don't know if it will work with the 4x4 or not. Does anyone else know? Also, does it have hi/lo?

Ah, no it won't work. I forgot you were going with 4wd. Mine only has Hi and reverse. BTW, you have mail.

Yes, the tranny is a direct swap if you can find one with chain drive for the front and it needs to be from an Explorer. You could change yours to shaft drive for the front if you wanted. This is a much better setup and you can find the newer tranny's much easier. I have a '99 Scrambler 4x4 tranny with reverse and high but not low. This is shaft driven for the front and I will sell it for $500.

In order to change it to shaft drive I would have to change the whole front end.

Just the differential, I believe the axle's are the same.
