Just like to know what problems i should be expecting from my 500.It's a 99 4x4 with about 1500 miles on it and is in good shape.I know the guy that has it and he's not to hard on it.Thanks for the help!!

 

The only problem i had with my 500 scram was it drank water through the clutch cover vent. I fixed that with a 3 foot piece of rubber drainage tube rerouted alog the engine, then up under the hood.

Hey Sevy, where did you get the tubing? Did you vent the belt intake or exhaust? I made a 'cover' for the exhaust vent so the water can't splash directly into the housing. The intake is still stock but I would like to mod that if I can find the right tubing.

The only thing I have fixed on my Scrambler was a loose swingarm and that was loose when I bought it (used). Luckily it was the right side so I just put some locktite on the bolt and got it as tight as I possibly could. It has been good ever since. I might buy a new chain for it soon because it needs more adjustment than it should. It has some room for more adjustment but with o-rings missing and getting burried in mud, I think it wears quick.

 

Polarispower500, It was the exhaust that i vented. It never took on water if i was going slow or in deep water, but hit a 3 inch deep puddle at any rate of speed and water would get forced up in the vent from the tire. This was not by far one of polaris' best inventions. For the tube i got it at home depot(SP?) It is a hard ruber tube, yet soft enough that you could bend it around stuff. The tube was white and the wall thickness was about 1/8 inch.Then i just took a rubber plumbing reducer and a hose clamp and put it on in the place of the factory turndown and gave it a coat of black paint and you couldn't tell that it was not a factory piece.
