Update on Wolverine Top End
#1
Well as some of you may know, I have been tearing down my stock Wolverine top end to make some improvements. Well I finshed it up Thurs night, and rode it on Sat for the first time. Man what a ride. I can pull wheelies with stock tires without dumping the shifter into first gear. It had great low end, and pulls through all five gears.(needs a 6th) I got the jetting right on the first time too with a 147.5, and needle in second groove from top.(Jet kit already installed) The mods include a Wiseco .20 over 10.25:1 forged piston, Web #88 race cam with valve spring kit. Had the head ported and polished, and matched the intake to the intake port. I have a K&N filter clamped onto a Pro Flow filter plate, vented airbox, FMF Mega Max 2, DG Aluminum A-arm guards, skid plate, and swing arm guard Thing is bullet proof underneath. I put in new sealed front wheel bearings, and a set of DG handlebars with Moose hangaurds clamped on them. Also have a Sentec digital tachometer, FMF 909 grips, JL Vibra Stop steering stabilizer. I think thats about it for now. I will be installing a larger oil cooler from a minivan soon to keep the temps down. Next will be the Douglas .190's with 25 inch Bearclaws. By the way, like most of the Wolverine owners, I just noticed that that piece of steel that Yamaha calls an axle is bent. Guess it was bound to happen. Gotta save for a Dura Blue now.

Sounds like a great ride. Enjoy. I've done all the above to my Warrior, (I've got that sixth gear you want!) PLUS, I also did an .080" bore and stroked the crank 5.6mm for a 400cc Warrior, .430/.430 hi-lift cam, ported polished, and so on....
Time for you to get some new tires and suspension to get the power to the ground now. I went with Holeshots XCT's all the way around with dual rate shocks and steering dampner front end. SWEET!

The #88 cam is considered the " all around cam " and the #84 is the race cam. Did you lobe center the cam with an adjustable cam sprocket or did you just install it with the stock sprocket? How much bottom end and midrange did you gain? They say the #88 .390 lift will increase this but the #84 .430 lift will drop bottom end and midrange.Just curious because this might be the next step for my bike. I might also use the .080 365cc overbore piston instead of the .020 wiseco. But its twice the price of the wiseco and no room for any oversizing in the future.

I got the all around cam and installed it w/ the stock non adjustable sprocket. It increased low end with the help of the Wiseco 10.25:1 piston. I can pull a wheelie by punching the throttle with a little tug on the bars. It will also pull more rpm due to the cam and port job. The poor flow qualities of the stock head acted as a rev limter. Runs as smooth as the stock motor. I have only ridden it once since the upgrades on flat land, and not too hard yet so the rings seat properly. I will know when I start hitting some hills and mud
