I am looking to get a little more performance from my '99 Magnum 500. I would like to upgrade to the H.O. engine. What parts do I need? I already have a Supertrapp, K&N filter, and have re-jetted the carb. Does anyone make a good clutch kit for trail riding that will work with EBS? Sorry for all the questions, but I have been out of riding for a while, and I am trying to get back to it. Thanks in advance..

The HO 'conversion' includes a new carb & cam. If I am not mistaken, the TRUE HO engines also have a different crankshaft, and stronger engine cases. If you only will use the power from time to time, it will hold up just fine, but I have heard of premature crank bearing failure from those who continually run them wide open & under heavy load, and even an occasional broken crank. Failures seem to be few and far between, though.
Personally, I wish that Polaris would build a Magnum HO, so people wouldn't have to piece them together. I can see why they haven't in the past, as the Magnum 500s would usually just barely outrun the non-HO Sportsmans (the Magnum is slightly lighter, has a slightly more efficient drivetrain, and slightly taller gearing in high), but now that they have the 700 out, the Sportsman would still be 'King' in the 700, and the Magnum HO would sell like hotcakes.

Just my opinions,
Farmr
