Sportsman 400 or Foreman ES or Artic Cat 375s
#2
I had a 2002 450ES, and is a very solid built atv. If you plan on going down smooth trails or very slow tech trails, then the 450 is what you want. The ride on the 450 is very ruff compared to the sp400. So if your trail riding is faster and need more GC the sp 400 is the one to get. I don't know much about the 375 cat, I hear they ride nice, but are slow like most of the Cat's. The 450 is very low geared and top speed is just over 45mph. You could get 50mph, but you will be reving the engine out. I sold my 450 because of the ride, other then that is was a good atv. You get more features with the sp400 and they are all about the same price. So what ever you decide consider a couple of things.
1)What kind of riding will you be doing. Do you need true 4x4 and high GC in mud and rocks, or not much mud and little rock climbing.
2)How's your back. Do you want a smooth ride or a ruff one?
3)How's the dealers in town, will they take care of you.
4)Try them out for yourself on trails not in a parking lot.
5)Last but not least, pick the one that you want, not on what people tell you to get, then have fun on it. All the companies make great atv's.

I have 2000 honda 300 4x4 that is a great starter bike because it goes through just about any thing. Now that I've been riding for awhile I need more power. (which is what most people tend to do) So I've looked at alot of atvs in the last couple months and I've decided togo with the sportsman 400 becuase it has great power and the most ground clearance of any of the other atvs. Plus I am getting a great deal on it at $5,200. Some of the most important things on buying is look at all the bikes you can and never take the price they give you. Try to go at least $500 dollars lower. It took me three weeks of return trips to polaris toget them from $5,900 to $5,200. !!!be persistant!!! and TEST DRIVE BEFORE BUYING. Good luck and have fun on your atv
