survey: LAEGERS or LONESTAR? PEP or WORKS?
#2
There is alot of difference, it kinda depends on what riding you do. A leagers chassis is double walled chromaly whereas a lonestar or Aarens are single walled. Thus a Leagers is stronger. But Lonestar A-arms are the best, unless you move up to Leagers T-pin. Also a leagers goes through the rough stuff better than a Lonestar and stock 250R chassis. But a Lonestar hooks up better off the line and turns better than a stock 250R or Leagers. Thus for MX and XC Leagers is preferred, whereas the Lonestar works well for TT. But even with these frames, many people including Tim Farr and Doug Gust actually like the stock 250R frame the best because its in the middle, it turns better than Laegers, but not Lonestar, goes through the rough better than Lonestar, but not leagers, etc. On top of that, a rider can actually catch more air (I've heard as much as 5 feet by Doug Gust) on a stock frame than any aftermarket frame availabe.
As far as suspension, They are comparable, it just depends on if they are set up properly for you, but Custom Axis has the best quality shock made. I personally run Last Rebel Pro-shox by Works because they are like PEP limited mass, but cheaper and they work well.
Theres lots of choices, but its all up to your pocket book and what you do than determines what's the best.
Hope this helps,

Thanks for the info. I am riding a MX'R 400ex with works triple rate front and back and with lonestar +2 a arms and +1 1/4 swingarm. I just bought a 250r and i was not sure what A Arms and swingarm to buy and if there were any difference b/w the pep and the last rebel shocks that i was thinking of buying too.
I had some trouble with my lonestar a arms with their ball joints. Do you think laeger is better? am i going to have many problems riding motocross?
thanks

As far as A-arms, I never had any ball joint problems, and if you stay with ball joints (Not run T-pins) Lonestars are the best because they are a bigger ball joint than anybody else uses. Also if you run Leagers A-arms you need to keep an eye on the ball joint shaft because the angle is not quite right so they tend to eventually bend then brake. I've seen this happen several times, and it my friend suffered a severly broken collar bone when his Leagers busted a ball joint. He is a national racer also, and he even feels lonestar makes best A-arms unless you switch to the T-pin setup.
As far as the Swing-arm I've heard Leagers is better than Lonestar, I personally am currently running a Lonestar swing-arm without any problems on my 250R.
Good luck with the R,

yea, this thread is like 6 years old almost 7 , BUT,
I have this t-pin front end, its actually called 'laegers pro trax' but anyways, im looking for a spindle (pass side) or both spindles for this "t-pin" setup.
i called laegers and its 800 a piece for each spindle or t-pin if you will.
i only really need one, because i sent out my old one and the dude stole it from me.
so im looking for 1 or both of the spindles for the 'laegers pro trax' system, if anyone know where i can get some of these spindles let me know.
i seen stockers on ebay for 150 for both, , i wish i could use em', but im not downgrading my quad.
