This is the last chance to sign up for the ride, we need your help (money) for a great charity, it’s a great ride too!

We are asking 10 dollars per bike to be donated to the Special Olympics, in return you get a free lunch and some great trail riding, but most important is the satisfaction of helping people who might not get to enjoy these types of activities. So give of yourself and help some others enjoy participating in Olympic activities geared for them.

I have been riding up there a couple times in the last few weeks to check out the trails. There won’t be much mud if any left. Bring a jacket as it still gets cool in the shady spots. Bring some water to drink while riding, maybe a snack to eat. A camera is a good idea, I always bring mine. Food and drink will be provided for lunch.

If you want to go with us, meet at the Gunnison City Park before 9:00 A.M. Saturday June 29, 2002. We will leave the park at 9:00 A.M. and go to the city of Mayfield (this is the last chance to gas up). From Mayfield we go about a mile to the mouth of 12 Mile Canyon, this is where we will unload the bikes. From there it is a couple mile of dirt road to the first trail (Clear Creek). We take this trail to the top then over to Mayfield cabin for a break, then over to Beaver Creek and up to Gunnison Valley. From Gunnison Valley we go to Skyline Drive then north to Mt. Baldy down to Deep Lake then over to the main road 12 Mile Canyon. Once we are on the main canyon road (which is still dirt road) we will go over to the Grove of the Giant Aspens, then over to Spring Hill Beaver Ponds for lunch.

After lunch comes decision time. There will be two separate rides, one for those with good life insurance and a desire for hard trail riding. The other group is for those who just want to keep riding and be able to see some beautiful country.

So don’t miss out on your chance to do some riding, sight seeing, and raising money to help Special Olympians fulfill their dreams.

Let me know if you are coming,
