Rode at Pearl river last night with a guy on a P650. We had been riding hard off & on for about 10 hours. We were taking a beer break, then hopped on bikes to leave. He started his bike up, reved it up & put it in gear before the engine idled down. At that moment we heard a loud crunch. I felt so bad because I had been talking about how crutial the first service was, and that I had just changed all my fluids at 60 miles. He only had 196 miles on his bike, & warranty will fix it, but the damage has been done. Front end was completely locked up. This motor has a lot of power & looks like kaw needed to make a few parts stronger. Oh well, I still love mine& goimg to rub on her in just a minute. Must brush teeth first, no need to turn her off.

Nothing in this world is idiot proof!!! He must have seen that Dodge comercial a few years ago where they took a car, put the accelerator on the floor and shifted the automatic form drive to reverse without letting off the gas for a few hours, does he own a Dodge?

It was not wide open, he started it & with his thumb off the throttle he put it in gear. Engine had not made it back to idle though, it all happened real fast. A few beers & this could happen to anyone. This is just information so we can help each other make our P650's last a long time.
P.S.
It was an Oldsmobile commercial.

Just being a smart butt, don't do the beer but give me a few hrs with a JackD bottle and I can screw up with the best of em.

Dodge\Olds whatever, that was a dumb comercial to show people!

Anyway, might be a good idea to get into the habit of starting those bad 650's in gear after a few of those beverages. lol

Later.
