Hi all,
Whats everyone think of the power band of the DS-650? I love this quad but at times it seems it's "Ball's out" or nothing. My Baja's running great, Big Gun Complete, Dynojet kit and K&N filter. This thing screams but there are times when I don't want to be in the upper RPM's and once off idle, there seems to be very little in between. It's amasing how quickly this thing rev's, which is great when your on it but when you just need to "tool around" it gets kinda difficult. Am I making any sence? I'm running Motion Pro's twist throttle too, I was wondering if this may be why it doesn't seem rider friendly at times. Thx for any input, Rich A

My baja putts around pretty good, when I need it to, but I do wish It had a little more low-end torque for wheelies, and hillclimbs. I do have the thumb throttle too.

I think what your feeling is the gearing. I thought mine was really weak for hill climbing and such but it turns out that these rigs are geared 2 high. Which tires and Sprockets are your running now?

Stock suspension, gearing and tire's. Very good point, you may have hit it on the head.

Fastest, cheapest, & easiest way is to drop to a 15tooth Front sprocket. That way you don't have to replace your chain, and it is like going up 2.7 teeth in the rear. It made hillclimbing so much nicer, you can stay in second gear & alot of the time 3rd gear. All thru the powerband the power is right there. You probably were having to go in and out of second alot before and fanning the clutch in second, HUH?! You will see a world of differance. That's all I do is climb hill's here at Hungry Valley. Let me know how it works out for ya!

Because I due 99% of my riding in the sand I due not need to go 80+ MPH up a dune. I will leave that to the hill shooters on the trick out Banshees. Now I have 15/41 sprockets and I am going to 15/43 and with 22 inch tall tires I sill will top out around 79.9 MPH. That is fast enough for my old bones. The 22 inch tires due make my starts a lot easier.

If I go to a 15 tooth front sprocket, will I still get good bottom end for mud, and top-end, and I still need my wheelying power, and my Holeshot. What will suffer the most?

The 15 tooth front will take some of you top end off but add more low end. If you due not want to chamge the gearing go with a -1 inch swing arm.
