What is this? Are they changing the whole engine? When? I read this in another post.
Also, has anyone had any problems with the clutch or the frame breaking?

 

I have the cable clutch. No problems. My machine was raced by Mike Walsh all last winter. Pro rider #10. No problems with anything on the quad.

 

Well, what is this next generation engine?

 

Yes....they are WORKING on a new engine, but no word on whether it will appear any time soon. Most thought it would make into the X440 and Moto models for the 2003 modely year, but that didn't happen.

They have been doing alot of R&D on the new engine and the engine itself is changing from day to day...so no one knows what it will be in the end.

Last word was new engine altogether with 450cc and 53HP at the wheels after cylinder head mods. This was in the ATV chassis.

 

Is it based on the engine now? Will one of these work in the frame of the cannondales now? Or do they even know yet? I hate to buy one and then have a better one come out a year later.

 

You can't wait around to see what a company MIGHT do for the next year. It would be unwise to hold off on a purchase due to this unless Cannondale made the news public....which they haven't.

The Japanese are coming out with things different every year, but you don't see anyone waiting a year before they buy.

Let's say you waited and the new engine made for the 2004 lineup, but at the same time, rumors circulated about another new engine for 2005...then what? Then..Let's say the same thing happened there....a new engine rumored to be released in 2007.

No logic at all waiting unless something was made official that there WOULD be a new engine for the following year.

You would never own anything.
