After a year of shopping, waiting, lurking on these forums and selling my boat I made the deal on the green 500i manual today. I'll pick it up after they get the ball joints done next week. I was all set on the manual, and then drove the auto and liked how it felt but then drove an auto with 28 inch outlaws on it. I also drove one with 26inch outlaws. The 28's steered better and rode better on the gravel/dirt area. I could definatly feel the difference in less low end grunt with the 28's. The man has a lot of low end. I was surprised at how low 1st high range is. No problem staring out in 3rd. This was all with the stocker tires. They didn't have a manual set up with any bigger tires. I decided to go for the manual with bigger tires.

I have had my heart set on a set of bi-tri claws but by the time I get them shipped here to Alaska and get them mounted I'm looking at at least $540. My dealer has Titan 589's and Outlaws in stock. $500.00 installed for the 27's or 28 inch laws. $450 for the 26 inch outlaws. At this point I'm getting the 27inch outlaws. I don't like the fact that the 589s don't have any sidewall tread.

So, anyone have any 27 inch outlaws? How do you like them. The terrain up here is pretty mushy. All the atv trails I have seen and been on are muddy ruts through the tundra. I will however ride some terra firma at times. Think the 27 inch laws will work good? I know that they won't ride real good but the 28's didn't seem to bad once I got over about 5 mph.

I like the six ply rating and the bead guard. The 27's are a little lighter than the 28's. A little heavier than the claws.

Think I should get the claws?

Any opinions welcome.

 

laws wont leave you stranded in the mud....bi/tris dont clean well. only good for soupy mud.

 

The laws will do fine I'm sure. What width did you get?

 

probably 10.5 up front and 12.5 rear cause 9.5's have no sidewall bite.

 

On my 500i I have 26x12x10's on the front and 26x12x12's on the rear. The quad turns the tires no problem in first gear but in 2nd gear is has some troubles in the deep stuff. In the deep thick mud even 1st gear low powers out. This is how I broke my right rear axle shaft, I would avoid playing in the deep thick mud that makes the quad power out. I haven't tried my outlaws in normal mud yet because I broke my 500i on the first mud trip. I also have them mounted on ITP steel wheels which are heavy as well.

I live in similar terrain as you, I live way up north in Manitoba. The terrain is all swamp here, these tires are awesome in swamp. If you spin the tires you will dig down and still make it through but the machine is full of grass. Or you can go in 1st gear and make it through easier and have less grass to pull out later on. I love going with the stock tire machines, they are funny to watch in the swamps.

You will not be disapointed with your choice, have a great time.

 

I'd suggest the 589 MT's, 26" if you want the big ones. A durable and reliable tire. Nice rim guard. Rides well, super traction, extra durable.
