use a bolt instead of stud?
#1
ONe of the studs on my warrior that holds the head pipe onto the cylinder broke off. Is thee anything wrong with using a bolt and screw it directly into the cylinder instead of screwing a stud in and having to put a nut around it. Thanks for the replies

If you can get the stud out there is nothing wrong with it. If you cant get the stud out you can drill it out and tap it to the next size bigger which should be a SAE size it being metric now. Take a small drill bit (Less than half the size of the stud) and drill a hole all the way through the center first. Then drill it again with the right size bit.
If you dont do it this way the bit will walk off center as the aluminum around the stud is softer material and the bit will go towards it.
Dont try to use an ez-out because if it breaks off you cant center drill the stud for the broke off ez-out in the way.

you still screwing around with that stud?
Use a stud, dont use a bolt. Im not sure why you would want to use a bolt other than not knowing how to tighten a stud into the head. Just get 2 nuts for the stud and tighten them together - then use a 12 point socket to tighten to the right torque. Your not in big enough hurry to not do it right.
