Anyone of you cannondale owners know of any alky burning dale's?
Just curious if anyone has converted one over yet, sure it would make a large difference. They are supposed to be fast as stock, so why not be even faster. I sometimes think if I were buying tomorrow, it would maybe be a cannondale instead of the RAPTOR. Not sure though.

A few problems come to mind - same ones you run into with a fuel injected car. Injector capacity, fuel pump capacity, fuel line capacity, FPR, etc...

The ECM's fueling and timing could easily be mapped for it, but you have to have the other systems in place as well. Then you also have to be sure any o-rings, etc can handle it....

I bet it could be done with a higher volume injector, or maybe just a higher pressure fuel pump. Is there a way to increase pressure on the stock setup, like a return regulator. I think it sounds like a neat idea. Would be cool to have a cannon smoking ported banshees and stage 3 ds's. It being so light that would make it worth looking into.

A larger injector setup would work.

The current fuel pump probably produces enough pressure, but volume may become an issue - an AFPR would be necessary.

If you try to increase FP, the injectors may get unstable.

A person could also try a FMU with an aux injector...

1986atc250r - "an AFPR would be necessary." Can you explain what this is and "FMU" is. thanks
I am familiar with some fuel injection but never looked at the cannons setup, only TBI like what is on my old chevy.

AFPR - adjustable fuel pressure regulator. If you raise fuel pressure (like you suggested) a given injector will deliver more fuel for each pulse width. This can cause injectors to be unstable, however. With roughly doubling your fuel delivery requirements on alcohol, I would not believe raising fuel pressure alone would be a safe method of getting the additional fuel necessary.. The factory fuel pump may not be able to keep up either.

FMU - aux fuel management unit. An additional injector is added with a separate control circuit to deliver additional fuel over what the stock system is capable of. These systems are used a lot EFI cars with aftermarket superchargers.

The Cannondale's fuel injection is technically the same as a multiport car setup, except there is no closed loop feedback (O2 sensor), and no MAP or MAF sensor to calculate engine load. It is an Alpha-N setup which relies on throttle position for fuel delivery.

I bet it would be well worth the effort. One thing if I did have a cannondale, I would have to know some computer guru too.

Wouldn't it be easier to throw away the EFI and modify the intake to except a Holley 650 four barrel.
