im thinkin about gettin rid of my warrior and going for a z. Im not going to get the first production year cause i have bad luck as it is. when do u think a 2004 will be coming out? WIll it be before next summer. SHould i consider getting a kawi version of this? im either going to do this or purchase a used super modded warrior. What is a better machine. I dont just care about performance, durability is very important too and the warrior has proven itself to me. What do u guys think. Thanks for replies

I can't disagree with the Warriors durability I put mine through some rough conditions and its still going. My friend just bought my old Warrior off my other friend and all it needs is two new rear rims, jetting, and rear brakes. I love my Z but I don't know how its going to hold up over time. I don't like buying first year production machines but the motor in this quad is proven in the DRZ 400 and Suzuki was the first on 4 wheels so I have some confidence in Suzuki.
The 2004's should be out around this time next year give a month or two in each direction.
I wouldn't buy the Kawi since it will be exactly like the Z and that too will be a first year production machine.

do u think its worth the money to buy a z. I mean z's im sure are worth the money but is it worth spending that money for a machine that has capabilities i mgith not need. Im not mx racing it. Just mostly trails, dirtroads, pits, etc. Do u reccomend i go out and spend the extra 1200 to get a new z.

I have both a Warrior and a Z400 and there is just no comparison. The Z just plain rocks, it handles better it jumps better is has more power it is just a better bike all the way around (although I like the Warriors reverse and lights a bit better than the Z's). I ride that same type of terrain that you ride and I am totally happy with the Z, it might be a tiny bit more than I need at times but when you need it it is there. I don't like first production years for anything either but I just couldn't wait and the raptor is just a little more than I wanted to spend on a quad. All in all I think I made the right decision, a fully modded Warrior I don't think could hang with the Z. Mine has a shaved head, ported, High compression Wiseco piston, bigger valves, supertrapp pipe, and lots of other extras and it can't hold a candle to the Z. Go with the Z you won't regret it.

thanks for the replies guys, i think im going to wait it out and get a 04 z. Im convinced. YOu are right about the handling, the z just handles better and getting a used warrior that is super modded still wont be as good as the z in most areas.
Can u guys tell me how much you have spent. I cant figure it out because the msrp is 5699 i think and i hear these people saying there getting them for 5k, 5100, etc.
Im 16, gonna be 17 real soon and have a little cabin house in PA where i do my riding. Like i said, although they are worth the money, a super modded warrior might still be the better choice if its a lot less. It still will perform great and im not sure if i can justify the price.
Remember, if i forked the money for the z, it would stay how is. The warrior would be upgraded. I see some people saying that a new axle is necessary, atleast witht the warrior, the flaws will have been worked out and made durable. I know the z is a strong machine...but as with most performance machines, they all have parts that are meant to be upgraded. thanks again for the replies.

thanks for the post...i dont mind spending the money. I just dont want to spend more money after to repair weaknesses in the bike such as the axle. Ill try to get a ride on the z. Is there a big power difference. It only 50 cc more, but that doesnt mean anything. how much better does it handle? Is is a major difference. how stable does it feel at high speeds cause i love flying down dirt roads and on my friends 300ex and polaris it doesnt feel safe compared to the warrior. Maybe because the warrior is longer.
P.S. I am 6 foot, will the zuki fit me well? thanks again for the replies

Why not look into getting a used 400ex? They may not have the power of the Z, but they sure are a nice upgrade from a warrior. Now that the Z's are out, used 400ex's that are only a couple years old can be found at a great price.

Warrior,
I am 6'4" and the Z fits me great. My wife is 5'4" and it fits her great too. Neither of us have had problems with our axels or anything else for that matter. (Although I crashed mine today and bent something but that's not the quads fault)
