Hi,

I have a 2000 yamaha banshee, that runs, but it cuts out whenever I hit the throttle. I believe that it is the TORS system, but I am wondering how to adjust or disconnect the system. I have also heard of an override system, I would prefer not spending the money but if anyone knows of where I can get it, it would help me a lot. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

First take your throttle cover off. Start the bike and look at the switch inside the throttle cover. If as you start giving it gas and the switch starts to open, the bike dies, you have a problem with the TORS. Remove the switch and see if that cures it. You can put the switch back in and cut the wires, or I think you can simply unplug the oval plug under the gas tank. It takes care of the entire rev limit system.

I have never had problems with the TORS system (or they have already been removed) so I have never had to do this. I have just heard what friends have said.

It sure sounds like the TORS. I had the same problem, as soon as I would hit the gas off idle it would just quit for a second. No fun. Anyway, I believe you can disconect the TORS by disconnecting the plug into the little black box under the tank on the left side near the front; i never tried it but that's what I have read several times. I actually did mine the hard way by bypassing the wiring on the thumb throttle and the TORS units on the carbs...
