I wanna dress up the 250 Trailblazer for the ol' lady, and get her some more power. Who has what pipe, and how do you like it?

i have the hpd pipe on my trailblazer but i cant really compare cause i put the hpd pipe on it b4 i even rode it.

 

my boyfriend has a pipe on his Trail Blazer but i dont have one on mine he said that it gave him a little more power but his trail blazer 2001 with the pipe goes the same as my 2002 and so it didnt do a whole lot

 

the pipe is pretty much useless unless you also do the jetting and clutch kit, altho i would have rather had my stock clutches for some reason they require a clutch kit

I believe you will get the most bang for your buck
Hot Seat and HPD also make nice kits but they are more costly.
Stay away from companies like FMF because they do not specialize in POLARIS.
Also It is alway nessecary to Re jet and RE-clutch with the addition of a pipe or they will not do much for you, could be worse performance, or could do damage.

 

Just buy a speed kit for it from a reputable polaris tuning company.(i like hotseats and aaen)
should come with a Hi flow filter, jets, clutch kit, pipe, and silencer.

with out jetting,and a clutch kit, you will have a ver very long lag after hitting the throttle, and then a power dip, and then finally it will come on the pipe and take off noticeably faster than stock.
Repeat this process anytime you let off the throttle and hit it again.


with the whole kit, thorttle response is much sharper, the quad revs up a lil bit before it engages from a dead stop.
the motor turns higher rpms while it up shifts (remember the pipe moves the peak power higher in the rev range)
and if you kit comes with a new helix, it will "back shift" quicker when you let off the throttle, kinda like kicking it down a gear, soo that when you reaply the gas, it will shoot forward.
and expect to have about 25% more power on top too.


other mods worth looking into are, skimming the head for higher compression (gotta run premium gas and oil)

playing with lower gearing (a tooth or two more on the rear sprocket)

and depending on how many hours you have on it, some freshening up of the motor (check your compression)
and a new set of helix ramp buttons (inside your secondary clutch)
to help make it a tad more responsive.

 

HPD Dyno chart for Trailblazer mods

The above link will take you to a site that shows you what's possible with this bike. The chart for the piped bike also includes the clutch kit, which is necesary to get the most out of the HP gained by the pipe. Without it, you'll never actually get it to the ground.

I say say go all the way! If you're gonna drop over $400 on a pipe and clutch, might as well port and get the bigger carb!

 

I have HPD's trail pipe. In my opinion HPD is the only way
to go with performance mods. There are others, like RCR and
Hotseat Performance. RCR would be my second choice for engine
mods. I would only use Hotseat for suspension mods.
Like Beastytrailblaizer said, you really need a pipe and clutch
kit to wake up the trailblazer. On another note if your wifes
TB is an older model, say a 98-2000, and you really want too add
some power then go with HPD's REED CONVERSION KIT.
This kit will take the hp from 22 to over 39 horsepower. It cost
about $1450 dollars. Only drawback is you have to use Race gas!

MY QUAD

 

I have a pipe on mine an it help some by it self but need to do it in a kit well show best improvement. I am waiting for my reedcage conversion to show up next week. It fits all trail blazer no matter what year So if have an older TB this one fits it not HPD's reedcage setup. Good luck on what you get.
